Fan-what?

A fanlisting (FL) is a non-profit, non-commercial online listing of all fans of a certain subject, mostly for entertainment purposes. In this case, this site is an FL for the self-titled debut album by the Australian pop duo Savage Garden.

Why bother with a fanlisting? For website owners, a fanlisting serves the same function as any other listing -- more exposure for your site, since it gives you more backlinks, possibly improving your pagerank. For non-website owners, it's a fun way to see your interests immortalized online. :)

Why This Album?

I love this album -- it's one of the few where I actually memorized all the lyrics to EACH and EVERY song in it. ;) I was a teenager when this came out, and I instantly latched on the music this duo composed. Their songs' melodies were catchy and the lyrics were poetic, I would remember this album as containing the best of Savage Garden -- like they put in everything they had on this one collection. And from a fan's perspective, I'd say their efforts completely paid off. From "Santa Monica" to "Universe" to "Break Me, Shake Me" to "Tears of Pearls" (all less-known songs), I play them over and over back in the day -- more than a decade ago -- and truth be told, I still love each and every track until now. :)

The title of the site, Disco Inside Your Head, is taken from the song "Violet." When Alison adopted out the FL to me, I kept the name she had for the site, since I think it best describes the music and words that Darren and Daniel produced -- that unique sense of understanding the human emotion and psyche, the passion, sensuality, insantiy and isolation, rendered in a syntax uncommon in any verse I've heard. And with the songs' engaging rhythm one can either dance along to or just simply can't get out of one's head, it's simply the perfect title for the fanlisting!
